Three Activities to Add Fun to Office

All work and no play can make any workplace a drag. Part of staying productive and happy at work is making sure that there is fun infused into your day-to-day tasks. It often takes extra effort to stay motivated during the doldrums of winter, but with these three activities, you can add fun to the workday and say so long to office boredom!

  • Schedule Some “Hoop”La – It may seem counterintuitive, but taking a break for a bit of fun with teammates can actually make you more productive. Use the paper supplies you have on hand to “shoot some hoops” using a paper ball and the recycle bin, or host a paper airplane contest using scrap office paper. Less disruptive – but equally fun – activities could include a drawing contest among colleagues, or creating coloring pages on the back of scrap paper to doodle on when you need a brief distraction. A few quick laughs with colleagues can help you say bye-bye to office boredom and shake the February blues for good.

  • Party Time – Knowing that you have something to look forward to at the end of the day can help you power through and cross tasks off of your to-do list. Gather your colleagues for a tasty dinner near the office, or propose a team building activity such as visiting an Escape Room. Not only will an exciting event on the calendar help you get through the day, but you’ll also have the chance to get to know your colleagues better.

  • Take the Office Outdoors – Sometimes, all it takes is some fresh air and a bit of exercise to refocus and beat boredom. Get your blood pumping with a brisk walk outside or around the office, or propose an outdoor brainstorm or walking meeting the next time your team needs to get together. A change of scenery for just five to 10 minutes can rejuvenate the senses and help bring your focus back to work.

Adding a burst of excitement to your workday can do wonders for your productivity, so go ahead and give your brain the break it needs – without neglecting your work responsibilities.
